About the Magician

Q: Does Nathanael ever teach magic?

A: Yes. Classes are private with acute selection due to the secrecy/complexity of his magic. If you or a friend is interested in learning a free magic trick, please visit the Learn a Magic Trick page of this website.

Q: How old was Nathanael when he got started into magic?

A: The Ace of Illusions began learning magic in Seattle at age 12 after visiting a nearby magic shop. To learn more about the magician, please visit our About Nathanael page of this website.

Q: How long did Nathanael have to practice to become this good at magic?

A: As you can imagine, becoming a master magician is a difficult feat and requires years of practice. Nathanael used to practice 4-8 hours a day, but now his sleight-of-hand skills have become second nature. However, the technical aspect is merely a portion of why he is such an entertaining magician. Watching him handle the audience and connecting with spectators is an experience like no other.

Q: Does Nathanael come from a family of magicians?

A: No, he's the first. However, Nathanael’s Dad will humorously insist on taking credit for first exposing him to magic with the old childhood classics of magic tricks.

Q: Has Nathanael ever revealed the secrets behind his magic tricks?

A: Only for one trick. Go to the Learn a Magic Trick section of this website to find out the secret. There are many fundamental rules to performing magic and the cardinal rule is “never tell anyone."

Q: Who taught Nathanael all his magic tricks?

A: Nathanael learned a number of tricks by reading books, working in a magic shop, and through endless hours of practice and exposure to the magic industry. He also mentored with a magician, Steve Dobson, to whom he owes much credit.

Q: What are Nathanael's favorite types of tricks?

A: Card tricks due to the complexity and the variety of things that can be done with a single deck of cards. You will witness cards warping together, flying through the air and even become a projectile as they shoot from his mouth! Have you seen the magic?

Q: What does Nathanael think about TV shows that give away the secrets?

A: They don't cramp his style. Magician's secrets revealed-type of shows are a bit of a motivator for us magicians. Increased spectator knowledge motivates magicians to come up with new effects that will leave even “those who think they know” in utter disbelieve.

Q: Who is Nathanael's favorite magician?

A: Nathanael’s favorite magician is not the world's most well known. In fact, when you mention the name “Dai Vernon,” mainly seasoned magicians will know his work. Dai Vernon is one of the earlier pioneers of magic who took the art to the next level. After his passing in 1992, Magician Dai Vernon has lived on among the elite as the magician’s magician. Click here to learn more about Dai Vernon: Wikipedia - Dai Vernon.

Q: Is Nathanael's last name, Jester, his real name or a stage name?

A: Believe it or not, this is an entertaining coincidence. Jester is Nathanael's real last name; his family name is Welsh.
