Who Is: Criss Angel, Master Magician

Criss angel is known and respected by many corporate magicians for his outstanding demonstration of tricks and magic. Who is Criss Angel and what are his accomplishments?

Criss Angel's parents are John ans Dimitra Sarantakos. He grew up in East Meadow, Long Island. At the early age of 6, he was itnroduced to the world of magic when his Aunt taught him a card trick. After high school, he decided to devote his time to becoming a professional magician.

This days, Criss Angel is a big name in the world of magic. He received various awards and recognitions for his outstanding performances.

Some of his notable performances are: levitation magic tricks, walking on water, vanishing under the table. One of his most plausible stunts is levitating above the famous Luxor Hotel. He also underwent a breathe taking performance of having himself cut into half, disappearing a Lamborgini, having himself run over by a steamboiler while he laid stomach down on glass, and walking on water.

Highlighting his career in magic, he performed some demonstrations that are indeed breathe taking such as: "Burned Alive," "Bullet Catch" wherein Angel caught a bullet in a cup held by his mouth, and "Body Suspension" where Angel was suspended from a helicopter by four fish hooks through his skin. Way back in 2002, he was chained, shackled and submerged in a 220 gallon of water for 24 hours but he managed to escape. October of the same year, he had his first hour long television special in his Angel Mindfreak. This was followed in 2003 by a 2 hour long television special special that was aired in Japan which gained Criss the Silver Telly which is Telly Award's highest honor. It does not end there because in the same year, Criss Angel's "Supernatural" was featured in Sci Fi Channel. As expected, it had an overwhelming review.

With the above, it comes as not surprising that he had garnered the title "Magician of the Year Award" three times specifically in 2001, 2004 and 2005.

It is worth mentioning too that aside from performing magic, Criss Angel had considerable achievements in the field of music. To mention one, he wrote, produced and performed the music for the CDs that are now available in the market entitled Criss Angel: System 1, 2, 3 In The Trilogy and the Mindfreak soundtrack.

As to his personal life, Criss Angel married his longtime girlfriend JoAnn Winkhard in 2002. However, they separated ways five years there after. He was dating another girl from 2008 but had a very short life since it ended in 2009.

Despite his indeed mind busting magic performances, he believes that no one has supernatural capabilities. In his interview with Larry King in 2007 for his being a judge on "Phenomenon", he said: "no one has the ability, that I'm aware of, to do anything supernatural, psychic, talk to the dead. And that was what I said I was going to do with Phenomenon. If somebody goes on that show and claims to have supernatural psychic ability, I'm going to bust [him] live and on television.
